After a couple of false starts with getting my physical therapy (PT) set up in December, I was finally able to meet with my PT doctor and got started with some home exercises the day before Christmas and then started twice a week in facility sessions from the last week of December.
Remarkably, after only 3 weeks, the issue with the pinched nerve has pretty much gone away! The pain in the neck/back stopped in early December and has not been an issue since.
I can’t say that PT was the solution as I had also stopped playing for several weeks and only started playing PB once a day since the start of this month. After today’s PT, I was given the ‘ok’ to try to play twice a day with a target to get discharged from PT as early as next week.
I feel like I dodged a bullet but I will need to keep an eye on things as the herniated discs, bulging discs, arthritis, and spinal stenosis are all still lurking in my neck. I would bet that some of those issues extend all the way down the spinal cord as I know that getting my leg over a traditional men’s bike frame has been a real problem, hence me switching over to a electric bike with a step through frame. Hey, at least I’m still upright!
Ah, the joys of getting older! Fingers crossed for being discharged next week with a follow-up with my neurologist at the end of the month.
